Greenpeace - Sanctuary

Sanctuary is a hand-drawn short film created by Rumpus Animation in collaboration with Greenpeace's Protect the Oceans campaign, supporting the push for global ocean sanctuaries.

I had the privilege of writing the music and shaping the sound effects for the film. It features a star-studded cast, with Jane Fonda voicing the determined flying fish, Camila Cabello as the sassy European eel, and Simon Pegg lending his voice to the kind-hearted whale.

The score doesn’t use any traditional instruments; instead, glass, metal, and various found objects were struck, bowed, and manipulated to create haunting, terrifying, and sometimes beautiful sounds. The brief called for strong contrasts, moving between minimal, understated sound design and full-on, visceral, hair-raising horror-style moments to drive the story forward.
